Horrific images have emerged of a woman struck down by a silver sedan while out on the town on Friday night. 

Emma Dowling, 20, has suffered facial fractures and a head injury after being tossed in the air, with friends saying she ‘looked like a rag doll.’  

She was one of two pedestrians struck on Hindley Street in central Adelaide suffered facial fractures and a head injury after being tossed in the air.

 

‘Never take life for granted and be kind to one another, you honestly never know how quickly it can change,’ Emma Dowling said after her accident

Adelaide’s renowned party street was lively on Friday night with football fans and people celebrating the long weekend when the crash occurred.

A friend of the victim spoke with 7 News, and said the crash was so horrific she was convinced the girls were going to die. 

‘She looked a bit like a rag doll. She hit the windscreen and bounced back off and flew a few metres away from the car,’ Cate Bishop said. 

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Hindley Street and Rosina Street at 10:15pm after the two women reportedly stepped out from the sidewalk.

Sam Luck, 19, was having a drink at a nearby hotel when he heard the incident, he told The Advertiser.  

Mr Luck said he heard a loud bang as the silver car struck the two women.

‘One of the girls was thrown into air,’ he said.

‘She basically did a somersault in the air before coming back down. Then her face started to fill with blood.

‘She was in pretty bad shape. She would have been unconscious for a good two minutes.’

The driver’s windscreen shattered, furthering the woman’s injuries. 

Both women were taken to The Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Emma Dowling has since shared a post on her Instagram account.

‘Just wanted to thank everyone for all your kind messages and concern, not exactly how I imagined the long weekend to start but here we are. No major damage and I’m so grateful it wasn’t more serious.’ 

‘Never take life for granted and be kind to one another, you honestly never know how quickly it can change,’ she said. 

The driver, 20, is cooperating with South Australia police, 7 News reported.
