Tragedy as pilot dies after a helicopter crash in New South Wales

A man has died during a helicopter crash in New South Wales.
The smash happened about 12noon on Wednesday in the Murrumbidgee region.
Emergency services were called to a property on Toopuntul Road, Maude, about 50km west of Hay, following reports the helicopter had crashed.

The male pilot – and sole occupant – died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended and established a crime scene, which is still being forensically examined.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
