Pippa Middleton enjoys a beach day with her husband James Matthews and their children in St Barts

Pippa Middleton looked every bit the doting mother as she enjoyed a sun-soaked beach day with her husband James Matthews and their children in St Barts.

The mother-of-three, 39, showed off her stunning figure in a white ruffled swimsuit as she soaked up the sun alongside her youngsters Arthur, four, Grace, one, and young daughter Rose.

Pippa was spotted rushing into the waves for a dip in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean on Sunday, while her husband and their son appeared to enjoy a dive into the sea.

With her hair tied back from her face, Pippa looked effortlessly chic in her eye-catching one-piece, which she teamed with a pair of stylish sunglasses.

The Princess of Wales’s younger sister, an author and socialite, who wed James in May 2017, looked to be enjoying every minute of her sun-kissed getaway as she frolicked on the white sand beach.

Pippa has previously been seen on the island for winter holidays, including with her brother James Middleton in December 2019.

On Saturday, the mother-of-three showed off her washboard abs in a vibrant red bikini while on vacation.

For his beach outing, Pippa’s husband sported colourful shorts, featuring an image of an idyllic beach scene, as well as a pair of sunglasses.

The Matthews family owns the Eden Rock resort on St Barts, one of the region’s most exclusive hotels. Stars including Elton John, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio have stayed at the resort.

James’s parents, David and Jane Matthews, moved to St Barts in September 1995 after purchasing Eden Rock from local adventurer Rémy de Haenen.

She won a sports scholarship to Marlborough College and this week Pippa showed she had lost none of her athletic prowess when showcasing her washboard abs in a bikini.

The ultra-fit mother-of-three has long been open about her love of exercise and is often spotted running through Central London, heading to her local gym or cycling in the countryside near her parents’ Berkshire home.

She previously revealed in a 10-week column in partnership with Waitrose Magazine that her fitness regime ranges from ‘brisk, rigorous walking’ to high intensity interval training.

Fitness expert Luke Goulden told FEMAIL following Pippa’s fitness routine sounded ideal to fit into a busy schedule – explaining it’s possible to fit a quick jog or plie squats into any routine.

The online coach explained it will not help you look like the Princess of Wales’ sister, but could help to improve your ‘quality of life’.

He said: ‘Will jogging, plie squats, planks, and wall push-ups make you look like Pippa Middleton? No, of course not.

‘But working on improving your strength and cardiovascular fitness will most likely improve your quality of life and how you feel.

‘Whether you are running around after the kids all day, working a busy, stressful job, or doing both, being fit and strong will help you cope with the demands of life.

‘And if time is tight, something is always better than nothing. So, keep the perceived barrier to entry low, you don’t need to be in the exercising for hours, going for a quick jog, doing some plie squats, planks and wall push ups at home consistently overtime will compound so show up for what you can do not what you can’t.

He continued: ‘It’s also important to know and one mistake I see time and time again is people relying too heavily on exercise to get in shape or toned.

‘While exercise can certainly help, the key to getting and staying in shape is focusing on your nutritional habits and behaviours, particularly if your goal is to lose weight or get leaner.’

Pippa is well-known as a keen sportswoman. At Marlborough and Edinburgh University she played hockey and tennis and, like her sister, works out daily.

In 2011, she competed a 5km race in the GE Blenheim Triathlon, which takes place every year at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

According to friends she had been training daily to get in shape for the event and seeing a physiotherapist to make sure she was in tip-top condition.

Four years later, she took part in the 50-mile ÖTILLÖ swimming and running event in Stockholm, Sweden – a challenging 50-mile route across 26 of the archipelago’s 1000 islands.

She managed to raise a smile and even wave to onlookers despite the challenging conditions, finishing in 13 hours, four minutes and 24 seconds.

Contestants must run wearing a wetsuit and are not allowed to remove their trainers for the swimming sections – all of which involve a dip in the notoriously chilly Baltic Sea.

She has also taken part in the gruelling Engadin Ski Marathon, the GE Blenheim Triathlon and the Bosphorous Cross-Continental Swim.

Pippa also cycled the 54 miles between London and Brighton on behalf of the British Heart Foundation, of which she is an ambassador.

She has previously said how important her fitness is to her personal routine, explaining: ‘Exercise is a massive part of my life and a very personal thing for me; it’s so important for both the mind and body.’

Meanwhile in a 10 week long Waitrose column about her fitness regime in 2019, she opened up about her routine.

She said brisk walks were ‘great for burning fat and boosting fitness’ and ‘do wonders for your body shape, particularly if you’re after fast results’.

HIIT is similar to circuit training, you exercise in short, explosive bursts, with a brief recovery period, before resuming another short, explosive exercise.

Meanwhile in her monthly column which she also shared her diet and exercise tips,  she admitted she is fond of a simple 30-minute total body workout.

She swears by four key exercises – ladders, plié squats, wall pushes and the ‘classic plank’ – that are ‘quick and great for toning all over’.

She said: ‘To get us started, I’ve chosen some of my favourite exercises for toning the whole body, all of which can be done at home. Do the routine three times a week and you’ll really notice a difference.’

Each exercise takes around two minutes to perform, and she recommends a 30 second break between the moves with a two minute rest at the end of each circuit.

She added: ‘I know that if I fit in at least three, ideally five, sessions of exercise a week – be it a 30 minute run, an hour’s walk or a good game of tennis – it boosts my mood and energy, and helps me sleep and digest better.

‘So I make it a priority, whatever the weather or my work schedule. It’s about finding the balance that works for you, your work and your family, so good health is simple, real and achievable without being a ‘my body is a temple’ bore.’

Meanwhile she also placed an emphasis  on exercising outside.

On week four of her 10-week tone-up plan, she explained: ‘Fresh air, scenery and nature can all add to that feel-good factor, so exercising outdoors will invigorate the soul and flush the cheeks for a healthy glow.

‘Check whether your local park has an outdoor gym, and make the most of your natural resources and surroundings, such as a local footpath or trail route.’

In 2019, Pippa looked like a supermum as she was seen jogging along Chelsea embankment for a Thames riverside run – with a pram in one hand and leading her two dogs with the other.

The socialite was decked in gym gear, wearing a vest that showed off her well-toned arms.

Her hair blew in the wind as the dogs struggled to keep pace with her, trailing behind the baby jogger with their tongues flapping.

Running with a buggy is a good way for new mums to return to fitness, though it’s generally recommended that babies should be around six to nine months of age so that they are able to sit up and hold their head properly.

Pippa has also mentioned that taking her children to baby swim and gym classes help keep them active as well.

She revealed in her Waitrose Weekend fitness column that she used to take her son Arthur to her local baby gym for regular workouts.

Explaining it helps to ‘promote movement, balance and strength’ as the tots have to navigate soft play areas, mini trampolines and other structured activities.
