Pittsburgh Penguins FIND stolen Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads thanks to ‘special cargo recovery team’… after shipment was taken in California before NHL team honored legend

The Pittsburgh Penguins have secured the shipment of Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads after they were stolen in California.

The team planned to give out bobbleheads of the two-time Stanley Cup winner at PPG Paints Arena earlier this month.

The promotion was delayed, however, after the Penguins found themselves ‘a victim of cargo theft.’

‘We are working closely with local and federal authorities on the investigation,’ president of business operations Kevin Acklin said at the time.

Nearly two weeks on, the Penguins revealed that ‘a special cargo recovery team negotiated the return of the stolen property to a secure warehouse located in Ontario, California.’

The truckload arrived in Pittsburgh on Monday and the NHL team confirmed that it would start giving out the bobbleheads on April 6, when the Penguins host the Tampa Bay Lightning. 

‘Fans holding a bobblehead voucher from the March 14 game versus the San Jose Sharks will be able to begin redeeming their vouchers on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7,’ the team said.

After the bobbleheads were taken, Acklin said in a statement: ‘We were shocked to be a victim of cargo theft.’

He added: ‘While this unfortunate incident adds to the legend of Jaromir Jagr, who will be in attendance as our guest at tonight’s game, we look forward to resolving this theft and delivering the prized Jagr bobbleheads to their rightful homes, with our fans. 

Jagr’s number was raised to the rafters by the Penguins as his legendary career was honored

The franchise confirmed that state and federal authorities were working to locate the bobbleheads.

Jagr was drafted by the Penguins in 1990 before putting together a legendary NHL career. He won the championship with Pittsburgh in 1991 and 1992, led the league in points five times and was an eight-time All-Star.

Jagr also received the Hart award for the 1998-99 season, which recognizes the league’s most valuable player. After playing 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, he went on to star for a long list of other teams, including the Rangers, Capitals and Flyers.

Jagr returned to Pittsburgh last month to have his number retired. The 52-year-old hasn’t played in the NHL since 2018, but still plays professional hockey in his native Czech Republic for Rytiri Kladno.
