Plane passenger is SLAMMED as selfish after letting dog sit in fellow traveler’s leg space on 16-HOUR flight

While furry companions are allowed to travel on many airlines, one passenger has drawn criticism after their dog blocked the leg room of their seat neighbor.

In a post to Reddit, in the Mildly Infuriating thread, a user shared a picture taken by his father from his plane seat.

The snapshot shows him sitting down with his legs in front of him with the large canine partially obstructing the allocated space in the footwell.

‘My dad is on a 20-hour flight back from South Africa and said he’s about 40 screwdrivers deep. When I asked why he just sent me this,’ the Reddit caption read, without revealing which airline.

In an edit to the post, the user, who posted under benjaminrogers91, clarified he was slightly exaggerating with the time spend on the plane and how many alcoholic drinks his dad had consumed.

‘The 40 drinks deep and 20 hours is an exaggeration btw. I think the actual flight is 16 to 18,’ he wrote.

In the comments, people debated whether or not the dog owner should have been kept more contained.

‘Some people have a real fear of dogs and/or animals in general. This would have been a very stressful situation for me if I was the one forced to sit with the dog like this,’ a user wrote.

‘I’ve had flights where the person’s dog was trying to jump in my lap the whole time. It’s RIDICULOUS. Not everyone wants your dog in their tiny personal space. If you can’t contain them, don’t bring them,’ another person raged.

‘The entitlement is more than mildly infuriating,’ agreed another.

‘I hope the airline comped him. We were seated in a bulkhead row on one flight, woman came on with a large and incredibly smelly “service dog” and sat across the aisle from us.

‘A couple refused to sit next to her. I mean, they refused. They left the plane. I hope the airline refunded their flight, because I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same,’ someone else shared.

‘There’s no way I would let this fly,’ another passenger declared.

‘Either book two adjacent seats or fly in first class to have space. Encroaching on someone else’s space they paid for, AND contaminating their clothes/shoes/carry on is insane to me. Ask a flight attendant to move, or have the owner hold [their] pet,’ they advised.

In June, a United Airline’s customer shared their experience of having to fly with a dog at their feet.

‘Very sweet dog, but clearly not a service dog,’ the wrote alongside the picture of the furry dog in their area.

‘In my leg space the entire flight (including takeoff and landing). The owner tried but could not move the dog – too big and didn’t want to budge,’ they shared.

Many people said the passenger had the right to complain, either to flight attendants during the journey or to the airline after landing.

One person said that they had a similar thing happen on a flight and after complaining via the airline’s app, they received 10,000 miles.

In the US, it’s not uncommon to see pets on board a domestic flight, provided they meet certain weight and size requirements, while in other countries passenger’s fur babies may be restricted to traveling in cargo.
