Platinum blonde Cher, 78, cosies up to boyfriend Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, 38, at star-studded Cannes bash hours after taking to the stage in a black wig and skimpy bodysuit

Cher cosied up to boyfriend Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards at nightclub tycoon Richie Akiva’s star-studded party at the swanky Domaine Dilecta amid the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.

The iconic singer, 78, looked sensational in a long platinum blonde wig just hours after taking to the stage as a raven haired beauty at the nearby amFar Gala.

Following her performance Cher sported a dark bejewelled ensemble which she teamed with diamond jewellery including a piercing in her nose.

Meanwhile Alexander, 38, who’s been dating the singer since November 2022, co-ordinated in a black tuxedo which he wore over a crisp white shirt.

During the amFar Gala earlier in the evening Cher revived her skimpy look from 1989’s video for her iconic hit If I Could Turn Back Time.

The Believe singer proudly displayed her legs in the bedazzled bodysuit which also boasted stockings and wore a permed wig in a nod to the look of her heyday.

Cher even brought out the slick leather jacket that had completed the look all those years ago as she stormed the stage doing her signature number at the event.

In 1989, the singer had just left Sonny & Cher when she was looking to carve out a career in her own right.

Years later, she revealed that the inspiration from her costume actually came from a conversation with her grandmother, who said she wanted some ‘really nice leotards’ for her birthday.

Meanwhile, just before her performance on Thursday, Cher was introduced by Ghost actress Demi Moore, who scolded an audience member during her brief presenting slot.

Demi gave Cher a glowing tribute when an audience member in the back seemed to spark her ire.

The video, posted by Ramin Setoodeh on Twitter, starts out with Demi saying, ‘I’m going to see if this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for.’

The actress went on, ‘I’m just making sure that you’re really, really with me. Because this incredible woman that I’m about to introduce – she’s a Grammy winner, an Oscar winner, an Emmy winner.’

At this point Demi paused, seemingly agitated by someone in the audience, before saying, ‘Are you an Emmy winner over there in the back of the room? I f*****g don’t think so.’

The audience erupted in a mix of surprised reactions, with some cheers, before Demi resumed.

‘She’s a style icon and my personal hair inspiration. And she was was honored by amfAR for their award of inspiration in 2015.’

‘The bottom line is she is just one of the most talented, successful, and best-loved performers of all time,’ Demi went on.

‘So please,’ she said, before taking another notably long pause, as she stared out over the crowd, before continuing, ‘please give a warm welcome to the incredible, one and only, Cher.’

Ahead of taking to the stage Cher gave an update on her goal to make new music with her beau Alexander.

‘He and I are gonna start a new album,’ she revealed on the red carpet of the event. ‘We haven’t started yet; he’s going to produce it.’

Just last year, Cher excitedly shared her ambitious plans to make two new studio albums together.

‘Some of the songs Alexander gave me, so I’m pretty excited about that,’ she shared, before adding, ‘He’s a producer and a writer and he does everything, so I’m happy about that. I think like any artist, when you’ve got something good, you’re excited.’
