Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson believes the sex scenes in the hit BBC show are ‘laughable’ as all the actors are wearing tracksuit bottoms under the sheets.
The 28-year-old, who plays Demelza Poldark, said the intimate moments between her and co-star Aiden Turner were ‘the most unromantic’ experiences.
Speaking on the Who Am I This Time podcast, she said: ‘There is nothing quite like [filming a sex scene] in terms of nudity.
‘There is nothing more strange and terrifying but also in terms of creating a relationship with another actor. Someone that you have never met, or only met a couple of days ago.’

The star said: ‘You are having to do a scene where you’ve been married for three years, or you will be all cuddled up in bed together.
‘It’s hilarious. The sex scenes in Poldark are laughable. What you don’t see is that we are both wearing tracksuits under the duvet covers and it is the most unromantic thing imaginable.
‘You know they say “action” and we do our job and they say “cut” and we carry on talking like mates.’
Tomlinson, whose character is married to Captain Ross Poldark in the series, also revealed that when she was just 19 a staff member on the set of another film told her ‘she should expect to take her clothes off’.

She continued: ‘I did a film called Collete recently, well a couple of years ago now, and that was the first time I had to go completely nude on the top half and I was absolutely terrified.
‘It was fine in the end, but I had just never done anything like it.
They took very good care of me in that film but then I have been on sets where people didn’t take very good care of me at all.
‘When I was 19 I did a series and someone said: “Oh come on, you’re nearly twenty you should expect to take your clothes off”.
‘Can you imagine if someone said that now? They would never work again.’
