Police catch two girls after Creekfest music festival

Police have spoken to two girls aged just 12 and 15 after the brutal beating of a defenceless teenager at a music festival.

The young girls have been referred to Youth Aid after a New Zealand Police investigation into the attack at Creekfest, 30kms north of Wellington, last Saturday.

Two offenders were filmed kicking a teenager in the head as she lay on the grass after she was punched in the face and knocked to the ground.

Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson said acknowledged community anger and resentment directed at the perpetrators, The NZ Herald reported.

‘I would ask the community to understand that the matter is now being dealt with appropriately, and the people involved need our support to enable them to change their behaviour,’ he said.

‘While we can’t undo what has been done, we can collectively try to prevent this happening in the future.

‘This incident highlights the fact that we still have a lot of work to do around how violence in the home and in our community can influence a young person’s behaviour.’

Footage of the incident shows onlookers watching in horror as the victim was savagely beaten and hospitalised in the attack at the Porirua community festival.

The woman wearing the black sweatshirt punches the teenager in the side of the head with her right hand.

She attempts to fight back but is quickly overpowered by the two women who deliver a flurry of punches and a knee to the head.

The teenager is then hurled to the ground before the woman wearing a red t-shirt kicks her in the legs.

She can be seen lying on the ground and protecting her face, as her two attackers hover over her, threatening further attacks.

But before she is given a chance to get up, one of the attackers savagely boots the back of her head three times.

The video was posted to social media by a concerned woman, who said she ‘needed to show everyone what is happening in our streets’.

‘These kids are getting out of hand. And this is only one of many MANY incidents where they have bullied another person. This is f***ing disgusting,’ she wrote.

‘The poor girl on the video isn’t even fighting back and they are constantly booting her in the head… what is it going to take for this s**t to stop someone dying?’
