Police cordon off Kings Cross amid ‘suspect package’ alert

A cooking pot today sparked a lockdown at London’s King’s Cross station with police were called to a suspicious package alert.

Witnesses said that cordons were placed around the popular station with dogs scouring the area for traces of explosives.

The incident appeared to have been sparked by a small black cooking pot, according to pictures posted from the scene.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were dealing with a suspicious package in Pentonville Road/Caledonian Road, King’s Cross.

‘The package has been deemed non-suspicious and cordons are now being removed.

‘Thanks to the public for their co-operation – traffic is expected for a time while road closures are lifted.’

Local residents had been warned to stay away from windows as police officers moved towards the package.
