Police investigate burglary at the home of rising Spanish singing star Rosalia as an Albanian gang are arrested on suspicion of robbing the homes of three footballers

  • Rosalia Vila Tobella, 26, has six number ones in Spain and two Latin Grammys
  • It’s believed the singer was in Seville at the time of the robbery near Barcelona
  • Albanian gangs are suspected of targeting homes burgled in recent weeks  
  • Of 14 properties they are suspected of breaking into, 3 belonged to footballers.

Police are investigating a break-in at the family home of rising Spanish singer Rosalia just two weeks after authorities arrested an Albanian gang on suspicion of plundering the homes of three footballers. 

The intruders are said to have forced open a safe using a power saw and stolen valuables including jewellery.

The 26-year-old artist, who wowed the audience at MTV’s 2019 recent Video Music Awards, is believed to have been in Seville at the time.

Police have yet to make any official comment about the burglary at the property in Sant Esteve de Sesrovires north of Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Local reports say officers from the regional Mossos d’Esquadra force spent several hours at the house on Thursday combing it for fingerprints and other clues that might help them catch the culprits.

Rosalia, full name Rosalia Vila Tobella, has already had five number one songs in Spain where she made a name for herself before embarking on an international career.

She won two Latin Grammy awards last year and this year two MTV Music Awards.

One of the footballers was named as on-loan Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata, whose wife Alice Campello was confronted by armed intruders in June while she was alone at their home north of Madrid with a nanny and one-year-old twins Alessandro and Leonardo.

Of the 14 properties they are suspected of breaking into, three belonged to footballers.
