Police last night launched an investigation into the ‘unexplained’ death of a nine-year-old girl in her family home.
Officers and paramedics were called to an address in Glasgow yesterday afternoon after receiving reports of the girl’s ‘sudden’ death.
The youngster was identified locally as the granddaughter of Bobby Singh, brother of the well-known Glasgow restaurateur Satty Singh.

The brothers live next door to each other in semi-detached houses in Dumbreck, Glasgow.
Last night, Police Scotland officers guarded both entrances to their homes as detectives and police photographers arrived.
The alarm was raised by the family at around 1.45pm.
Police last night said they were still trying to establish the exact cause of her death, which they described as ‘unexplained’.
Members of the city’s Sikh community, believed to be friends and relatives, were seen arriving at the properties in obvious distress.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: ‘Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death which officers are treating as unexplained at this time’

Photos on the restaurant’s Facebook page showed celebrities including comedian Billy Connolly and rapper Kanye West had stopped off at the restaurant over the years.
Shocked neighbours yesterday described the Singhs as ‘a lovely family’ and described the youngster’s death as ‘tragic’.
‘Whatever happened, I don’t know but her granny came in and couldn’t wake her. It’s tragic,’ one said.

Another said the two families were very private and ‘kept themselves to themselves’.
She added: ‘I believe the families live in different parts of the buildings. I have seen the wee girl playing in the garden and sometimes in the park. How terribly sad.
‘They are a lovely family.’
The family were unavailable for comment last night, but friends say the girl’s death has left them in ‘total shock’.
The family homes sit opposite Bellahouston Park and are less than half a mile from Ibrox Stadium, the home of Rangers, the team closely associated with Satty Singh. He has been a prominent figure in Glasgow since opening his restaurant in the city’s Charing Cross in 1994. Previously, he had worked as a waiter in various restaurants.
A post mortem examination will be carried out and a report sent to the procurator fiscal
In 2005, Mr Singh was appointed director of Rangers Youth Development Fund, a post he held until around seven years ago.
Yesterday morning, Mister Singh’s India hosted the launch of the autobiography of former Manchester United, Rangers and Aberdeen assistant manager Archie Knox.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘At around 1.45pm, police received a call reporting the sudden death of a nine-year-old girl at a property in Drumbreck Road. Inquiries are currently ongoing to establish the cause of death.’
She added that a post mortem examination would take place ‘in due course’.
A number of uniformed police officers were seen outside the front of the large property today.
A forensics officer was also seen at the property speaking to police.
One local person said on Twitter earlier: ‘There are 10 police cars and ambulances and they’ve been there for about 1 hour.’
