Parking with the engine running on a public road is an offence that can result in a £40 fine and police say they are investigating.

The clip was shared on social media and posted with the caption: ‘Nap time at the Skye bridge #PoliceScotland.’

During the footage, the man filming can be heard saying: ‘So this is what we find at the side of the road. Like what the f***.’

As the man crosses the road to film the officer he captures the policeman dozing with his head on his left shoulder.

The man says: ‘A police officer just sleeping, in his car, engine running and f***ing everything.’

To the man’s surprise, the police officer then wakes up and the cameraman stops filming after asking the officer ‘are you alright?’

Police Scotland have confirmed they are aware of the video and are looking into the matter.

A spokesman said: ‘Police Scotland is aware of the video and enquiries are ongoing internally to establish the circumstances.’
