Chauffeur Jo Anderson caught the embarrassing gaffe while waiting in stationary traffic on the A449 as she drove a client to Heathrow Airport.

Jo, of Gloucester, said dozens of cars were forced to wait as officers used their cars to block entry onto the roundabout, not far from Newport.

The 59-year-old said: ‘We didn’t know what was going on at first. We were there for about four or five minutes.

‘Suddenly all these police officers were running in between the cars shouting and the car they were after just mounted the verge and drove off.

‘They were left standing about with ‘oh my God’ looks on their faces.

‘The car missed the stingers and just continued on its way. It was almost funny. Why they didn’t block the verge off, who knows?’
