A student has died after she was reportedly crushed under a fence which was pushed over outside a Durham nightclub.
Witnesses say the woman, 20, became trapped under the barrier which toppled over outside the Missoula nightclub in the city’s Walkergate last night.
Desperate attempts were made by doormen to resuscitate the woman, but she was later pronounced dead.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: ‘Officers are investigating the death of a student.
‘The 20-year-old Durham University student died in the vicinity of Missoula night club in Durham following an incident at about 11.55pm last night. The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear at this time.’
Students have been commenting about the incident online, with one man who previously worked at the venue saying the outside fences are ‘ridiculously heavy’.
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: ‘We received a call at 23.50 to report an incident outside Missoula in Durham city centre in which someone had received a serious head injury.
‘CPR was in progress and we sent three resources, including our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), as well as on officer, and sadly the patient died at the scene.’
Missoula hosts what it describes ‘Durham’s Biggest Student Night’ on Wednesday evening, with cut-price drinks being served until 2am.
The nightclub has declined to comment, citing the ongoing police investigation.
