Authorities say a school bus driver was drunk with about 20 students aboard his vehicle when he was involved in a road rage incident.

Lakewood police say 54-year-old Angel Colon showed signs of intoxication when they responded to the scene Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the area of Chestnut Street and Vermont Avenue about the alarming incident that involved the vehicle Colon was operating and another.

Officers Christopher DiBiase and Ralph Hatt came to assist Daniel Brooks when Hatt said he smelled alcohol on Colon’s breath, according to Patch.com.

Colon also had noticeably red eyes and was ‘slurring his speech,’ the officers said.

Colon was charged with drunken driving and child endangerment.
