Two people have been arrested after the seizure of 24,000 ecstasy pills in the Fortitude Valley area that were supposedly meant to be sold during schoolies week.

Detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Albion just after 3pm on Sunday, which turned up a bag containing a ‘large quantity of pills’.

Police will allege that five smaller plastic bags contained a total of 7.3 kilograms of MDMA, which has a street value of approximately $1 million, were in the possession of a 28-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man.

The man and the woman, who were residents of the house that was searched, will be appearing in Brisbane Magistrate’ Court charged with possession of dangerous drugs on Monday.

A police spokesperson called it a ‘significant seizure’ due to the proximity of the house to the Fortitude Valley entertainment district.

‘The arrest of these two persons and the seizure of these drugs will go a long way to making our community a lot safer,’ he said.

Detective Inspector Glen Farmer of the City Valley Crime Group told 9NEWS that police were alarmed by the size of the seizure.

‘With Schoolies starting on the weekend the arrest of two people and the removal a significant amount of dangerous drugs from circulation helps make for a safer community,’ Detective Inspector Farmer said.

Other illegal activity at schoolies this year has led to 41 drug-related arrests, with 19 of them being school leavers.

Some participants have also been caught selling their wristbands, although authorities say that is something that happens every year.
