Moment police storm TUI plane at Manchester airport after mother ‘refused to put seatbelt on her child’

This is the moment police stormed a TUI plane after a mother reportedly refused to put a seatbelt on her child.

Footage shared on Twitter shows officers boarding the full flight as they tell angry passengers ‘we’ll deal with it mate’.

The flight was scheduled to depart from Kos in Greece to Manchester airport at 1.15pm yesterday, but reportedly did not take off for another six hours, leaving passengers ‘exhausted’.

Witnesses claimed there were then further delays because of the disruption caused by the mother, which reportedly caused the pilot to abort a landing and circle over the Peak District.

The woman, who allegedly refused to adhere to the illuminated seatbelt signs and buckle up her child, was escorted off the plane once it landed.

One person on board told Manchester Evening News the woman had refused to buckle up her child because they were ‘terrified’ causing airline staff to refuse to take off.

The passenger said: ‘She eventually did it and we took off. When we were up in the air, everything seemed fine and there was not a peep out of them.

‘When we came to land, the flight had already been delayed so everyone was in a terrible mood. Then it all kicked off.

‘They went round checking seatbelts again and she was screaming saying she was not going to restrain her child and that she was terrified.

‘Passengers were screaming and swearing at her, telling her to sit down and calling her selfish, it was all kicking off.

‘The captain came over the tannoy and said we would circle in the air. After we landed, we stayed on the plane and the police came on and she was escorted off.’

MailOnline has contacted Greater Manchester Police and TUI for comment.
