Popular Irish radio duo reveal they are parting ways in shock announcement after 21 years on air together
Popular Irish radio duo, Dermot Whelan and Dave Moore revealed they are parting ways as they issued a shock announcement on Tuesday.
The presenters, who have starred on The Dermot & Dave Show on Today FM since 2014 and worked together for 21 years, hosted their final show this week.
Dermot revealed he will be leaving his radio career behind in favour of pastures new as he focuses on his Mind Full book range.
Speaking on the show, the comedian announced: ‘After 21 years on the radio together, I have decided to leave Dermot and Dave.
‘Contrary to reports, this is not because of Dave’s Bad Jokes!’

He continued: ‘I actually made this extremely difficult decision because I have other areas in my life that I’m really passionate about and I want to spend some time really devoting my time to them.’
The pair shared a hug in the studio, before Dermot added: ‘Oh gosh you know how much I’ve been dreading this moment.
‘Dreading it because it’s been on my mind for literally years. So, I’m going to be leaving the show, leaving my bets pal to go and pursue my Mindful career.
‘I am going to try and spend more time in that space and being a teacher and doing more tours. Writing books and helping people to feel better.’
Dermot’s book ‘Mind Full: Un-wreck your head, de-stress your life’ was released in 2021.
He became inspired to help others after suffering from an panic attack en route to one of his comedy shows in 2007.
Sharing the news to Twitter, the radio station posted: ‘When 2 become 1. Dermot & Dave are coming to an end.
‘Huge love to Dermot who is heading off to focus on his Mind Full brand. Watch this space as Dave Moore takes the hot seat to launch his brand-new show in the coming weeks.’

They added: ‘The Dermot & Dave Show is set to come to an end shortly with Dermot Whelan saying ‘goodbye’ to radio and Dave Moore taking the hot seat to launch his brand-new show in the coming weeks.’
Speaking of his new show, Dave added: ‘It’s not called The Big Dave Show, but to be fair that is a good name!’
‘From the 28th of August I will be doing Dave Moore on Today FM. It won’t have Dermot but it will have me.’
