Porto set to sign Benicio Baker-Boaitey after 16-year-old winger turns down professional contract at West Ham

Porto expect to conclude a deal for West Ham prospect Benicio Baker-Boaitey this week.

The highly-rated 16-year-old winger has confirmed his departure from West Ham after failing to reach agreement over a professional contract.

Baker-Boaitey has previously held talks with Champions League finalists Bayern Munich, Paris St Germain and Benfica but arrived in Portugal last week and is expected to sign for the Portuguese champions before linking up with their U19s.

West Ham would gain around £190,000 in compensation.

Porto agreed a two year contract with England U20 international Danny Loader last week after the 19-year-old forward’s contract ran down at Reading.

Loader scored two goals in 35 matches after graduating from the Royals academy, but he made just 12 appearances during the 2019-20 season.
