The Powerpuff Girls have introduced a new member to their crimefighting team.
With bright turquoise hair and a purple dress, Blisstina – Bliss for short – was welcomed Sunday in Cartoon Network’s five part movie The Powerpuff Girls: The Power of Four.
Bliss is the older sister of triplets Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup and the first black superhero in their hometown of Townsville.
New gal in town: The Powerpuff Girls introduced a new member to their crimefighting team on Sunday – older sister Bliss
Initially believed to be Blossom’s imaginary friend, Bliss was revealed to be an earlier version of Professor Utonium’s experiment to create the perfect little girl.
The Professor used his formula of ‘sugar and spice and everything nice’ to create Bliss, but added a different element from the triplets’ birth experiment.
Thus, Bliss’s powers of flight, teleportation, telekinesis, and super strength became uncontrollable when her emotions ran high.
This resulted in Bliss leaving Townsville, sending herself into a self-imposed exile.

The new movie also reveals that Bliss was once best friends with the Powerpuff Girls arch enemy Mojo Jojo.
However, Bliss returns to her hometown and the Utonium family discover her powers are an enormous asset and indispensable.
The original series was created by Craig McCraken and ran on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2005.
It was critically acclaimed and nominated for six Emmy Awards.
Peter Marks of The New York Times noted the show’s use of adult humor and pop culture references, declaring it ‘the sort of playful satire that can appeal as much to a viewer of 37 as 7.’
