PR worker ‘suspended for spreading false gossip about David and Victoria Beckham’

A PR worker who emailed her family about rumours the Beckhams were divorcing is under investigation for spreading false gossip.

The junior employee of the upmarket Communications Store is believed to have sent a private email to her family amid online rumours the former England captain and Spice Girl were ending their 19-year marriage.

A screen shot of her email was then taken and posted online.

Neither the employee or the PR firm are thought to be the origin of the rumour – and the email is believed to be just ‘passing on gossip’, the Sun on Sunday reports.

David and Victoria Beckham were pictured together for the first time this morning since denying rumours of their split. They both attended the Kent and Curwen fashion show and sat with Vogue editor Edward Enninful

Shortly after, Paddy Power suspended bets on the couple splitting up. David and Victoria are said to be ‘furious’ over the email.

The London based PR firm in question, The Communication Store, boast Gordon Ramsay, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dolce & Gabana, Marks & Spencer, Primark and TRESemme, among its many clients.

A company spokesman said: ‘In this case, a junior employee was commenting to her family members on gossip that was already circulating on Twitter.

‘Although that should never have happened, she did not originate anything.

‘The HR team at TCS are dealing with this member of staff in the correct manner.’

It comes as the father of the woman linked to David through online rumours dismissed the speculation as ‘ridiculous’.

Her father said that while the former England and Manchester United captain may have visited her place of work, the pair have never met.

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham was pictured for the first time yesterday since denying the end of the 19-year relationship.

The 44-year-old designer was seen leaving a boutique hotel in the upmarket district of Mayfair in London on Saturday, making a quick exit as she hurried into her car.

This morning, the pair arrived separately to the Kent & Curwen Men’s London Fashion Week show.

They put on a united front, and sat with British Vogue editor Edward Enninful. David was pictured smiling at his wife as she leaned over their mutual friend to touch his hand.

David owns a major stake in heritage fashion brand Kent & Curwen brand along with business partner Simon Fuller.

After rumours of an impending split began racing around social media on Friday, Jo Milloy, a spokesman for Spice Girl-turned-designer Victoria, told the Mail that the gossip was ‘absolute nonsense’.

The former England football captain’s spokesman, Simon Oliveira, likewise dubbed the claims ‘embarrassing and laughable’.

Elsewhere, a spokesman for the couple was quoted as saying: ‘There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news. This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time. The rumours were ‘a crock of s***’, he said.

The couple – parents of Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, six – are preparing to celebrate 19 years of marriage together next month.
