Pregnant Alex Jones reveals she’s being ‘monitored’ in hospital ahead of welcoming third child

Alex Jones has revealed she’s been admitted to hospital for ‘monitoring’ ahead of the imminent birth of her baby girl.

The One Show presenter, 44, who is expecting her third child with husband Charlie Thomson, shared a snap of bare bump covered in wire patches, but reassured fans that ‘nothing exciting’ had happened yet.

Alex first announced that she’s expecting her third child in March and has been updating fans on her pregnancy journey ever since.

‘Nothing exciting so far’: Pregnant Alex Jones, 44, revealed in an Instagram Stories post on Saturday that she’s being ‘monitored’ in hospital, ahead of welcoming her third child with husband Charlie Thomson (both pictured)

‘Just been brought in to have a bit of monitoring… nothing exciting so far,’ Alex captioned the photo of herself sitting upright in a hospital bed.

Alex revealed her bare baby bump by pulling up the fabric of her graphic T-shirt, and appeared in great spirits as she smiled for the camera alongside husband Charlie.

She looked radiant and every inch the glowing mother-to-be, with her brunette locks swept back off her face in an effortless style.

On Wednesday, Alex enjoyed a pamper session as she continues her ‘pre-birth prep’, just hours after packing her hospital bag.

Speaking to camera on an Instagram Stories post, Alex explained: ‘I thought I should probably start thinking about a hospital bag. Left it a bit late. I just cannot remember what’s supposed to go in, even though this is my third.’

Alex had already selected comfy pyjamas, blankets, dummies, toiletries including ‘Spritz for bitz’, flip flops and nursing bras for her hospital bag.

She revealed that she sentimentally held onto the blankets – one gifted to her by Gabby Logan – which she used to bring her two sons home from hospital.

Alex and Charlie already have two sons – Edward, four and Kit, two.

In her Instagram post, Alex pointed out that the white onesies were in size ‘tiny baby’ and explained it’s because they know that her baby girl ‘is gonna be quite small’.

Alex also packed breast pads, feeding bras, lanolin cream and sanitary towels.

In an exclusive chat with MailOnline, Alex admitted she didn’t realise she was expecting and blamed her symptoms on trying out veganism.

‘I just felt really tired but, of course, in hindsight I was pregnant. I thought it was the veganism making me drained of energy but it wasn’t,’ Alex said.

Despite being pregnant before, Alex said she was completely oblivious to the signs she was expecting and instead thought it was down to trying a meat and dairy-free diet.

She continued: ‘This is ridiculous in a third pregnancy, but I didn’t realise the clues were there because I honestly blamed everything on the veganism. I was so tired and hungry all the time and I thought it was that.

‘But I said to my husband that I think we need to do a test. And he said: “What? What?” – anyway, we did a test.’

Alex admitted she and Charlie were ‘ecstatic’ to discover they were expecting a daughter, but acknowledged having three young children will, no doubt, be ‘hellish’ at times.

She said of her unexpected pregnancy: ‘It was a funny thing because we hadn’t necessarily planned on a third because we thought… We were so grateful to have the two boys and we just thought: “There you are”.

‘So, it was a huge surprise. And when we also realised that it was a girl, we were just ecstatic. Because I don’t know, it wasn’t something that we ever expected, but actually three feels great and nice.

‘And it’ll be hellish at times, I’m sure, because we’ll have three under four-and-a-half, so it’ll be quite demanding. We just feel super lucky, super lucky that it’s happened.’

Grateful: 'We'll have three under four-and-a-half, so it'll be quite demanding. We just feel super lucky, super lucky that it's happened,' Alex told MailOnline earlier this year
