The actress, 35, who is currently expecting her first child with husband Dave Lawson, admitted that the cast ‘weren’t ready to be done’ with the HBO drama.

It comes after fans of the show were left shocked when episode three featured a huge plot twist.

Sarah, who plays Shiv Roy, said that although ‘everything must come to an end’ it was ‘bold’ for the producer’s to finish the series ‘on a high.’

Speaking to OK! Magazine, she confessed she felt a ‘huge sense of loss, disappointment and sadness,’ when she found out the news.

‘Emotionally, all of us weren’t necessarily ready to be done with the show because we all love each other so much,’ the star said.

Sarah revealed that the cast were shocked by the ending, revealing that they weren’t made aware of the decsion until they read the script for episode ten.

She added: ‘It’s a bold decision to go out on a high – it’s like “oh we’re really successful, everyone loves the show, we love doing it? Let’s cut it.”

‘But every thing has to come to an end, and it’s not smart to let some thing become a parody of itself.’

Her comments come after the third episode of the final season of Succession proved to be the most explosive yet, as a shock death just before a family wedding rocks the Roys.

The family were travelling to watch Connor Roy (Alan Ruck) tie the knot with fiancee Willa (Justine Lupe) before receiving the shocking news about the family’s patriarch.

In the lead up to the big day, Willa seemed to be having second thoughts about tying the knot with the eccentric Connor, the oldest of Logan Roy’s (Brian Cox) children.

Connor was feeling nervous that his father wouldn’t attend the wedding, however he couldn’t have expected how things were set to play out.

Viewers watched as the media mogul took his last breaths during a flight, as the Roy children told their father they loved him during an emotional phone call.

Appearing on Monday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Brain Cox opened up about his character’s shocking death.

He admitted on the show that he was, ‘hopeless at keeping secrets,’ adding that him keeping the secret of Logan Roy’s death was, ‘an absolute triumph.’

He ended up helping keep the secret in a much different way, when he showed up to his own funeral scene, which naturally concealed the fact that it was Logan’s funeral.

The subterfuge worked, with Colbert even showing Cox a DailyMail.com headline from January when the scene was filmed… speculating who in the show may have died.

Brain later added how his co-star Sarah thought the show was still going to have a fifth season.

‘Nobody knew how it was going to end. She thought it was going to be going on. I said you know it’s finishing. She said no, it’ll go on.

‘We will do a fifth season. I said I don’t think we will. She said I think we will. On the very last readthrough she still didn’t know the show is going to end,’ Cox said of Snook.

When asked how he first found out his character would die, Cox said he was, ‘summoned to head office and I was given the news that he would be departing.’

He added they didn’t say when he was going to die, but he said, ‘fine,’ adding, ‘It’s a job. There’s another job. It’s one of many.’

While he added he’s done over 209 movies and TV shows over the years, Logan Roy was, ‘one of the greatest roles of all time.’

‘You can’t knock it. It’s been fantastic. But I just knew that it had to come to a close and I just admire, I admire Jesse Armstrong so much because it was a brave decision,’ Cox said.

‘I will miss the cast, the wonderful wonderful wonderful crew. We have a crew. We have camera operators. It’s a real egalitarian show. That’s been the great thing about it.’
