A pregnant woman was fined for walking the wrong way down a subway at a Paris Metro station – despite just trying to shorten how far she had to travel.
She was issued the 60-euro (£54) ticket when she tried to cut short her journey by walking counter to a one-way system at Concorde station.
Her partner posted a picture of the ticket she was given on social media, saying: ‘Bravo for this racket.’

His post led to other Metro users complaining that they had been targeted on the same day.
One Twitter user pointed out that the fine was more than if the woman had not paid for a ticket, adding ‘words fail me’.
Another, called Lucile, said: ‘I was the only person in the corridor when they stopped me. It’s unacceptable.

‘We pay 75 euros (£67) a month for a service that doesn’t always work, with seedy corridors and trains.’
Metro operator RATP said: ‘Certain corridors can only be used in one direction in order to facilitate flows and especially to avoid incidents.’
