Pregnant woman gives birth on the street in China

This is the shocking moment a pregnant woman gave birth on street while going for grocery shopping in southeastern China.

Footage taken by onlookers shows the woman delivering a baby boy as soon as she took off her trousers.

A passing midwife helped cut the umbilical cord and escorted the new mother to the hospital.

According to Kan Kan News, the pregnant woman, named Zeng Meiqin, was going for grocery shopping in Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province at 8am on September 24.

Zeng experienced signs of labour and was forced to take off her trousers on the street.

Mobile phone footage shows a newborn dropping on the floor in a split second.

One woman worried the umbilical cord to strangle the baby and yelled: ‘Untangle the cord quickly, otherwise it’s going to wrap around the baby’s neck.’

A passing midwife, Huang Jiulian, took off her jacket to wipe off the blood from the baby boy.

She helped Zeng to cut the umbilical cord and took her to the hospital.

Zeng revealed to the doctors that she had given birth to two children before. 

Kan Kan News reported that the baby boy weighed 3.8 kg (8.4 lbs) and was in a stable health condition.

He will be kept in an incubator for a week to be observed.

This is the third case in China this month in which a pregnant woman has given birth on the street.
