A Premium Bonds holder from Hereford and Worcester has won £50,000 from a holding of just £300, latest National Savings and Investment draw data for April 2025 reveals.

The bond was purchased in February 2010 and it comes as the underlying rate for Premium Bonds dropped to 3.8 per cent for this latest draw, its lowest level since July 2023.

Two new millionaires have been created on South Yorkshire and Hertfordshire.

The South Yorkshire winner has a holding of £43,165 and purchased their winning Bond in March 2022. They become the third jackpot winner from South Yorkshire.

The Hertfordshire winner has the maximum holding of £50,000 and purchased their winning Bond in October 2020, during the lockdown NS&I boom.

There were more than 5.9million prizes drawn this month worth over £412million.

Other notable winners include another lucky Bond holder from Hereford and Worcester who scooped £100,000 with a £2,000 holding, alongside a winner in Leeds with the same win and holding.

These wins were very much against the 22,000 to one odds each Bond has.

Of the 78 £100,000 prize wins, 46 – or 59 per cent – were won by those who have the maximum holding of £50,000, This is Money analysis shows.

In the Spring Statement last week, NS&I revealed a new bumper net financing target of £12billion, which means it is looking to rake in more of savers’ cash.

However, NS&I remains a hugely popular home for saver cash and one savings expert warns it is likely to cut rates, rather than boost them in the near future.

NS&I has chopped the rate on Premium Bonds – its most popular product – four times since it peaked at 4.65 per cent between September 2023 and March 2024, bringing the rate down to 3.8 per cent from this latest draw.
