Donald Trump has taunted ‘Rocket Man’ Kim Jong-un about the ‘long gas lines forming in North Korea’ as he claims the UN sanctions on oil are beginning to bite.
The President tweeted the jibe at the dictator after he and South Korean President Moon Jae-in discussed the escalating threat posed by North Korea last night.
‘I spoke with President Moon of South Korea last night,’ he tweeted. ‘Asked him how Rocket Man is doing. Long gas lines forming in North Korea. Too bad!’

The president offered up no proof of the ‘long lines for gas’ in a country which had just 264,000 vehicles during the last calculation in 1990 – most of which were for military use – in a country of 25 million.
While visitors say traffic in the capital Pyongyang has increased since then, there is still little to no personal car ownership across the country, comparably few roads, and private car ownership and travel is highly restricted.
Trump followed up his tweet with a thinly veiled threat about the strength of the US military.
‘Important meetings and calls scheduled for today. Military and economy are getting stronger by the day, and our enemies know it. #MAGA’ he tweeted.

The White House says Trump and Moon are committed to continuing to ‘take steps to strengthen deterrence and defense capabilities, and maximize economic and diplomatic pressure on North Korea.’
In a statement released today, the White House confirmed the two world leaders spoke yesterday and had discussed North Korea’s launch of a ballistic missile that overflew Japan.

‘The two leaders noted that North Korea continues to defy the international community ever after the united nations strongly condemned North Korea’s repeated provocations twice in the last week.’
Moon and Trump plan to discuss the escalating threat posed by North Korea when they meet at the United Nations General Assembly next week.
Meanwhile, it’s been a busy morning for the president on Twitter who has not only been tweeting about North Korea, but has retweeted his own tweets from the last few days.
Possibly unhappy with how much expose the tweet got the first time round, Trump retweeted his Friday post about terrorism in the wake of the London attacks.

In a major show of defiance to the international community, North Korea fired a ballistic missile over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido Friday – the second to fly over Japan in less than a month.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the launch was ‘totally unacceptable’.
The launch was a clear message to the US that territory Guam was in reach, as the island is a similar distance away as Hokkaido. Kim has made repeated threats to bomb the US territory.
It came just hours after the United Nations Security Council’s unanimous approval to impose additional sanctions on North Korea, including on the import of oil.
Those sanctions were prompted by the communist country’s sixth nuclear test on September 3 – a hydrogen bomb test which is North Korea’s most powerful weapon to date.
