The Child of Courage award will go to Ella Chadwick, an 11-year-old who despite spending most of her life in hospital remains positive and determined to do something to thank the doctors and nurses who have looked after her.

The Teenage of Courage prize is set to be given to Joe Rowlands, 14, who was involved in a kayaking accident off the Anglesey coastline earlier this year.

He risked his own life to save his father, dragging him to safety despite bleeding heavily from badly cut feet and performing live-saving CPR.

Special Recognition will be given to Emma Picton-Jones, 29, who was left widowed in 2016 when her husband Dan took his own life after suffering depression and anxiety for years.

She set up the DPJ Foundation to support and help people in rural communities to open up about their mental health, and has since raised over £75,000 for the charity.

The Prince’s Trust Young Achiever will go to Omar Sharif, who grew up in Central London and attended a school where postcode wars were prevalent.

Losing three friends to knife crime and watching others go to prison, Omar realised that he needed to change, and he turned his life around thanks to The Trust’s Team programme, now running his own fitness training business and helping other youngsters.

Outstanding Bravery will go to the Thai Cave Divers, who risked their lives to ferry medical supplies, fresh water, food and blankets to the 12 young Thai footballers and their coach stuck in the Tham Luang Nang non Cave in Northern Thailand in June, before bringing them to safety.

Child of Courage will be awarded to heart transplant patient Max Johnson, 10, who was instrumental in changing the law on organ donation, potentially saving up to 700 lives a year. He called on politicians to change the law to an opt-out system, which means consent to donate organs is presumed.
