Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attend Monaco Christmas tree event

The Monegasque royal family have got into the festive spirit as they made a characteristically stylish entrance at the country’s annual Christmas tree ceremony today.

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene were joined by their children as they made an appearance at the Monaco Palace event, where they helped to dish out gifts to excited guests.

The couple’s 8-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, reflected their parents’ effortless style with their beautiful black and blue outfits.

The coordinated family were wrapped up warm for the chilly weather, with Gabriella wearing a luxurious deep blue fur coat and her mother a woolen cape in a similar shade.

Meanwhile crown Prince Albert, 64, wore a classic black overcoat with grey trousers, which he accessorised with a red tartan scarf.

The image of his father, Jacques donned a plaid coat and black scarf as he excitedly walked around the winter wonderland with his sister and parents.

The family were on hand to give out gifts to children visiting the ceremony, something they are used to after years of going to the event.

It is Princess Charlene’s first attendance at the event since 2020, when she debuted a dramatic new half-shaved hairstyle.

In 2021 she missed the event due to a stay in a treatment facility, where her husband said she was suffering from ‘exhaustion, both emotional and physical’, but has since recovered.

Today’s joint appearance by the couple follows a recent run of engagements for the family, including a recent visit by Princess Charlene and the children to a Christmas village earlier this month.

The royal couple also visited Monte Carlo yesterday to distribute gifts to people in need on behalf of the Monegasque Red Cross.

Princess Charlene met Prince Albert in 2000 during a swimming competition in Monaco and the pair married in 2011, before welcoming twins Gabriella and Jacques in 2014.

The Princess vanished from the limelight in 2021 after contracting a rare ear infection. But she has since recovered and returned to public life.
