Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are four times more likely to divorce in the next five years than to rejoin the Royal Family full-time as a couple, bookmakers say.
It comes after crisis talks were held by the Queen at Sandringham on Monday to discuss the couple’s future after they announced they would step down as senior royals.
Bookmakers are giving odds of 3/1 for Harry and Meghan to get divorced by 2025, and only offering an outside chance that the Sussexes will be reigned in and rejoin the family, with prices going long at 14/1.
A £100 wager on the breakdown of their marriage with Paddy Power would return £400, while £100 staked on their ‘rejoining the Royal Family’ would win £1,500.

The bookmakers are not pessimistic about Meghan and Harry’s ambitions and they are valued at halves to become financially independent in the next five years. This means a bet of £100 would return £150
Indeed, the Sussexes’ divorce is considered more likely than Serena Williams winning Wimbledon. Williams is priced at 6/1 and is the favourite.
But the bookmakers are not pessimistic about Meghan and Harry’s ambitions and they are valued at halves to become financially independent in the next five years. This means a bet of £100 would return £150.
Paddy Power are offering returns of 3/1 for the breakdown of their marriage within the next five years after Her Majesty gave them the green light to abdicate. This price means a £100 wager would return £400.
The Queen released a statement today confirming Harry and Meghan would be permitted to forge ‘a new life as a young family.’
This appears to give them licence to strike commercial deals as part of their Sussex brand, which experts predict could be worth £400 million.
And the possibilities abound, with the bookies paying particular attention to Meghan’s previous career as an actress.
They are 12/1 to star in their own reality TV show and Meghan is worth a flutter at 20/1 to appear in a special episode of the series Suits, for which she was renowned prior to marrying Harry.
However, the price of 100/1 on Meghan to star as herself in the Crown would appear to be priced slightly short given that the most recent series has only taken us up to 1977.

Her Majesty’s statement today described how ‘the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK’ while the details are thrashed out.
The Sussexes are 6/4 to permanently move back to the UK, while they are far less likely, at 8/1, to reside permanently in North America.
This despite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly offering to pick up the £500,000 tab for the couple’s security while they are in the country.
