Backing: The Prince of Wales has worn the firm’s ‘evening slippers’ at red carpet events
The Prince of Wales’ Savile Row shoemaker has become the latest business to call for the controversial ‘tourist tax’ on international visitors to be scrapped.
Arthur Sleep co-founder Jahangir Azam said the ban on VAT-free shopping was putting the UK at a ‘massive disadvantage’ compared with other European cities.
‘We should be creating a more dynamic economy attractive to foreign investors and tourists,’ he said.
Arthur Sleep’s customers include Robert De Niro and Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.
The Prince of Wales has worn the firm’s ‘evening slippers’ at events including the premiere of the James Bond film No Time to Die.
Arthur Sleep joins more than 400 firms which have backed the Mail’s campaign to reinstate tax-free shopping for tourists.
There are calls for the Government to launch a review into the tax in the Autumn Statement later this month.
