Prince Seeiso says he will be attending royal wedding

Since announcing their engagement in November, speculation about who will be on the guest list at Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding has been rife.

And now, the first guest outside of the couple’s immediate family appears to have been confirmed – Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.

Prince Seeiso, who founded the Sentebale charity with Harry, said he would be attending the big day at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May.

The 51-year-old described how Harry had ‘met his match’ in Meghan, and said the prince has always wanted to find a partner who shared his passion for charity work.

Prince Harry’s charity co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho (pictured together at a charity concert at Kensington Palace in 2016) has confirmed that he will be attending the royal wedding in May

Speaking to SABC news, Prince Seeiso said: ‘An invitation apparently is on the way.

‘These invitations, they sometimes either bring them in a stagecoach or boats or whatever, but we will be there be in May.’

Discussing Harry’s relationship with Meghan, he added: ‘Harry’s shown himself to be uniquely different in many ways, so I wasn’t at all surprised when I began to see a keener interest in this particular lady.

‘He’s always wanted somebody who is a partner, who is a friend, and somebody who can continue to allow him to be ignited in the passions that he has, especially in global matters of charity.

‘I think he met his match. But the script that seemingly was written in the stars for him, or the royal family, or his brother, to marry from a certain group or category – I think Harry has always shown he is not shackled by that. So I’m happy for him.’

Harry co-founded the charity Sentebale – meaning ‘forget me not’ – with Prince Seeiso in 2006 to improve prospects for the thousands of children and young people affected by HIV/Aids in the landlocked African country.

It has since delivered adolescent-friendly HIV testing and counselling services to more than 21,000 people, and plans to expand into four or five sub-Saharan African countries by 2020.

Harry first visited Lesotho in 2004, while shadowed by broadcaster Tom Bradby.

He and Prince Seeiso have since appeared at numerous events together, including a concert held at Kensington Palace in 2016 on behalf of Sentebale.

Speculation has been rife about who will appear on Harry and Meghan’s guest list in May.

Harry’s close friend Barack Obama will not be invited to the wedding, it is believed, as Donald Trump will not be on the guest list.

A source told the Daily Mail: ‘President Trump will not be invited because the wedding will be for friends and family only.

‘It won’t be a state occasion. If Mr Obama was invited, the invitation could look like a snub to Mr Trump, and His Royal Highness would not wish to cause a diplomatic row.’

Kensington Palace declined to comment.
