The event is organised by the City Council of Monaco and features folk dancing, a Mass and barbecues, according to Hello Monaco.

At the soirée yesterday, Princess Charlene, 39, was seen wearing a glamorous black trouser suit matched with black and beige heels as she received a posy of pink and white flowers.

She finished her look with simple yet elegant jewelry: a crucifix necklace, a wrist bangle and studded earrings.

The royal two-year-old twins sported matching outfits of red-and-white striped t-shirts, white trousers and comfortable-looking trainers.

The children seemed to enjoy the traditional folk dancing before Princess Gabriella retired to her father’s arms.

Prince Albert, 59, looked relaxed with an open-collared shirt, blue blaser, cream trousers and brown loafers.

Citizens are required to confirm their attendance before the annual picnic and to bring a form of ID.

Monaco has a population of more than 30,000 people but only around 1,000 attend each year.
