Crown Princess Mary of Denmark oozes elegance in a polka dot dress as she arrives at a gender equality conference in Paris

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was a vision in black and white as she arrived at a gender equality conference on Wednesday evening.

The 49-year-old oozed elegance in her sophisticated ensemble as she posed for photos on the red carpet ahead of the event in Paris, France.

The Australian-born royal – who wore a protective face mask amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – stunned in the polka dot frock, which featured large gold buttons down the centre and across the waistline.

The knee-length dress also enjoyed a smart rounded neck and mid-length sleeves, with Princess Mary teaming her look with a pair of beige heels and a large tan bag.

Despite the majority of her face being shielded with a mask, Princess Mary looked visibly youthful as she enhanced her features with just a touch of makeup.

She wore her hair in a wavy style, and accessorised with a pair of pearl earrings.

Princess Mary has been a major advocate for gender equality – once saying it is ‘the single most important thing we can strive for to improve our world.’

Mary was recently made a regent by her mother-in-law, Queen Margrethe, meaning she can perform duties as head of state when the Queen is otherwise engaged.

She is the fourth member of the Danish royal family to be named regent after Prince Frederik, his brother Prince Joachim, and the Queen’s sister Princess Benedikte, who are all official stand-ins for the monarch.

The Crown Princess will become Queen of Denmark when Frederik ascends to the throne, following the death or abdication of his mother.

Mary was born and raised in Tasmania, before meeting Frederik at a bar in Sydney during the Olympics back in 2000.

Although she initially had no idea who the European royal was, their relationship soon became the stuff of fairytales and they were married in May 2004.

While they reside at Frederik VIII’s Palace in Denmark, they are frequent visitors to Australia, with Mary often bringing her brood home to see her family.

The pair share four children; Prince Christian born in October 2005, Princess Isabella, born in April 2007, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine born in January 2011.
