Princess Mary’s twins Josephine and Vincent turn seven

Crown Princess Mary and Prince Frederik’s adorable twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine have been stealing the spotlight at royal occasions since the moment they were born.

And on Monday, the lovable Danish duo celebrated their seventh birthday.

To mark the occasion, the Danish Monarchy released four new photos of the pair looking all grown up – two official portraits taken on a white background and two more casual snaps from their holiday to Australia in late December.

Here, FEMAIL looks back at some of their most memorable and cheekiest moments over the past seven years and the hilarious snaps that have captured their big personalities.

Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander and Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda, the younger siblings of Prince Christian, 12, and Princess Isabella, 10, were born in Copenhagen University Hospital on January 8th, 2011.

Vincent was born 26 minutes before little Josephine and their birth was marked with a 21 gun salute as Prince Frederik fronted national and international press to announce their arrival.

On April 14 that same year, Princess Mary and Prince Frederik posed for snaps at Holmens Kirke, Denmark, after the twins’ christening before heading to Grasten Castle in August for their first summer holiday as a family six.

The family have posed for countless snaps at Grasten Castle over the years, with the entire family unit often hosting photocalls in the picturesque castle gardens.

As the little ones grew up, Princess Mary and Prince Frederik were seen pulling Josephine and Vincent in a wagon, playing hide and seek with them and joining them in games around the grounds.

The first snaps of Josephine and Vincent at the resort were taken when they were just one – the adorable duo dressed in tiny matching snowsuits, mittens and snug beanies.

As the years went by, the twins became more adventurous and were seen riding snow sleds together and playing with their siblings in the snow.

Vincent, on the other hand, has always remained relatively calm during their public outings and allows his outgoing twin sister to steal the spotlight.

During the family’s annual Hubertus Hunting event in 2015 the cheeky princess could be seen from the Eremitage Castle balcony pulling a series of hilarious poses, with Vincent often watching on or, in some cases, somewhat following in his sister’s footsteps.

Despite Vincent’s more reserved nature, the duo appear to be the best of friends and no matter where they are, they are often seen exploring, playing and adventuring side by side – whether it’s playing with dogs or inventing games in their lavish palace surrounds.

The little princess’ adventurous nature has led her into some trouble, however, and in July 2015 Josephine broke her arm in a horse riding lesson and was later seen sporting a blue cast

2017 was a big year for the royal twins, with their first day of day proving to be an exciting one for Josephine and more of an emotional day for Vincent.

The Australian-born princess and Prince Frederik accompanied them to Tranegård School in Hellerup, Denmark, to begin Grade 0.

But the occasion appeared a little overwhelming for the young prince, whose eyes filled with tears at one point – leading his attentive mother to place her hand lovingly on his head.

While he appeared initially emotional, eventually Prince Vincent broke out into a smile as posed proudly in his school uniform, alongside his family.

Later that year, the duo accompanied the family to Australia where they enjoyed a relaxing beach holiday in their mother’s home country – the pair enjoying beach days at Palm Beach, New South Wales, and visiting Tasmania, Mary’s hometown.

While it has been an exciting and adventure-filled seven years for the young royals, royal watchers and fans are eager to see what 2018 will bring for the dynamic duo.
