Priscilla Presley split with Elvis over infidelity

She’s the iconic former wife of the king of rock n’ roll.

And Priscilla Presley made a surprise appearance on WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda show on Friday, to promote her Australian tour, appropriately titled Elvis and Me.

The 72-year old revealed that her relationship with Elvis Presley ended because she wasn’t willing to ‘share’ him and tolerate his ‘infidelities’.

The flame-haired icon said the rock n’ roll lifestyle that took it’s toll on Elvis and pushed their marriage over the edge. 

‘There’s a lot of temptation, a lot of infidelity and I just couldn’t live it any longer, I wasn’t willing to share my man,’ she said. 

She added: ‘It was just a very difficult lifestyle, rock n’ roll is not glamorous’. 

Priscilla, who first met the King when she was only 14, says she has embarked on her tour to tell the ‘truth’ about her life, which she feels hasn’t been accurately represented. 

‘I’m at a time in my life where I feel a lot more comfortable with people,’ she told the WSFM radio hosts.

‘I’m asked so many questions all the time – there’s a lot of books that I have been glancing through that are just so altered and the truth is just not there.’

She went on to tell hosts Amanda Keller and Brendan Jones that she would never forgive herself if she died without telling the truth about the man Elvis was, following the Suspicious Minds singer’s death in 1977 from prescription drug abuse.

‘I don’t want to leave this world in the hands of other people writing my story,’ she said.

The couple married in 1967 but divorced later in 1973, following the birth of their daughter Lisa-Marie Presley. 

‘Elvis and Me: An Evening with Priscilla Presley’ will being in November, and has dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Perth.
