Inmates in jails across the UK are using smuggled mobile phones to film themselves beating up convicts in blood-drenched cells and posting the footage on Instagram as a warning to rivals, it was revealed today.
The disturbing videos have been made inside London, Birmingham and Liverpool prisons and have racked up tens of thousands of views on social media.
The films show inmates glorifying in mercilessly beating others they consider to have ‘taken the p***’ and then upload the footage.
One victim is forced to read an apology for his crimes while being beaten around the head.
In another graphic video a masked convict proudly shows his blood-soaked cell and yells: This is what happens in HMP f****** Birmingham when you take the p***, when you don’t pay your money’.

The phone zooms on his head and shows a giant gash in his scalp and forehead as he tries to stem the flow of blood.
At least 15,000 mobile phones or SIM cards were confiscated in prisons last year, equivalent to one for every six inmates.

In another shocking video, a bloodied prisoner is forced to read a written note apologising for being a ‘low life’ whilst being brutally punched and kicked in the head by two other convicts.
The prisoner inmate begins reading: ‘I’m sorry. I’m a low life who beats girl’ before convict punches him in the head.
Then a second convict appears and starts violently punching him too – as he screams in pain.
The inmate shrieks in agony as the two convicts kick him in the head and beat him. Worried that they’ll be discovered, the filming prisoner warns the man ‘Don’t scream man. Don’t scream’.
They finally stop attacking their victim and hold him in a headlock, telling him to ‘Shut the f*** up. Read the sh*t now. Read.’
The inmate raises his now bloodied head to the camera. He begs the others to ‘Get me a towel or something’ so that he can wipe the blood streaming into his eyes.
The three convicts yell at him to ‘Read the thing lad. Read the thing lad.’
The injured lag wipes the blood from his face and continues reading the note. He reads: ‘ Because I can’t beat men and I’m the scumbag, the scumbag who leaches off them and bullies.’

As blood streams across his face and he bares a huge head wound, the inmate tells his attackers that he is unable to keep reading the note.
The convicts conclude and warn him ‘When you’re on a visit with the next lads, you turn around and you walk away yeah.’ The video then cuts to an end.
In another appalling clip, a gang of lags punch and hold a bruised inmate down on the floor and show their beaten victim off to the camera as a frightening cautionary tale to others.
In the footage, purportedly taken in a London jail, several prisoners frantically clamber to film the wounded inmate with their mobile phones.
As they pin the battered male to the floor, one con zooms in on their victim’s face and boasts to the camera: ‘This is a f****** lesson yeah to all you that think you’re better. This is what I do to you lot innit yeah. The next time you’re rude, the next time you talk s*** yeah.’
The prisoners have an unintelligible conversation between them and their victim appears to plead with them not to film his face. The assaulted con begs ‘Don’t’ as another inmate zooms in on him.
The bruised inmate tries to cover his face with his arms but the filming prisoners shouts ‘This is a lesson to you. Show your f****** face you f****** idiot bruv.’.
Then another lag screams ‘This is what you get for snitching bro’ and then punches him in the face. The bruised inmate recoils and cowers in fear.
The filming prisoner then continues yelling: ‘You can’t f*** with me’.
