This selection now puts the cousins – both from Maryland- just over an hour and a half away from each other.
Reese is currently playing with USA Basketball, but will be back at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge for her sophomore season.
When someone noticed that Reese wasn’t at the NBA Draft, she replied, ‘I’m at USA basketball rn but trust me when [I] get back to [Baton Rouge] it’s UP!’
Outside of living in the Bayou State, both cousins had phenomenal seasons of college basketball last year.
Reese helped to lead the LSU Tigers to their first ever basketball national championship – defeating Iowa 102-85 in Dallas.
Angel Reese led the way in rebounding with 10 boards as she was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Jordan Hawkins was winning a fifth men’s basketball title for the UConn Huskies
Downstate from the women’s national championship, Hawkins was helping UConn’s men’s team win its fifth national title and its 16th basketball title overall.
Hawkins won Most Outstanding Player in the West regional – thanks in part to a team leading 20 points in a demolition of Gonzaga in the Elite Eight.
In the Final Four, Hawkins combined for 29 points in both the semifinal against Miami and the championship game against San Diego State. Hawkins was named to the Final Four all-tournament team as a result.
There’s a Huskies connection in New Orleans that may have led to Hawkins arrival. Two-time women’s basketball national champion Swin Cash is the team’s Vice President of Basketball Operations and Team Development.
