PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi vows to keep Neymar AND Mbappe for EVER after inspiring Atalanta win

‘They’re never going to leave!’: PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi vows to keep hold of Neymar AND Kylian Mbappe for EVER after star duo inspired incredible Champions League comeback win

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi promised star forwards Neymar and Kylian Mbappe would never leave the club after the pair helped steer them to the Champions League semi-finals.

The French outfit rounded off a dramatic comeback against Atalanta to win 2-1 in the dying minutes, with both players influential in setting up the two late goals to turn the game on its head.

Al-Khelaifi was delighted with the team as they finally ended their hoodoo of failing to reach the last four of the competition for the first time since he took over in 2011, reserving special praise for Neymar and Mbappe.

‘Everyone said that Paris was not ready for the Champions League but we showed a great mentality, with great players,’ he told RMC Sport, via Goal.

‘Our goal is very big but we are not thinking today of the final, only the semi-final. It’s very important to change mentality. You too, the media, everyone doubts PSG. The Champions League, we needed this victory to go further.

‘Neymar and Kylian are some of the best players in the world but it was the team that had a great game, even though Ney was really good.

‘In recent months he has changed in the team. They’re both going to stay, they’re never going to leave!’

The Brazilian superstar has been linked with a return to Barcelona in recent months after initially looking unsettled after his world-record £200m move in 2017 – but now appears to have found his best form.

Mbappe, meanwhile is also one of the most talented stars in world football and is said to be interesting the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Neymar was on hand to scuff across the face of goal for Marquinhos to tap home in the 90th minute and secure the equaliser, and just minutes later there was time for Mbappe to drill the ball across for Erik Choupo-Moting to fire home the winner.

The club will face the winner of Leipzig v Atletico Madrid next week and will be dreaming of lifting their first ever Champions League trophy. The game also fell on their 50th anniversary – so it was a special night all round and left Al-Khelaifi feeling ‘proud’.

‘It’s a very special evening with the anniversary of the club,’ he added.

‘It was not easy with the end of the league season but we gave everything we had on the field.

‘I am really very proud. This is the first time that we have reached the semi-finals since the takeover in 2011.

‘We now have to think about the semi-final and not think about the final.’
