PSG desperate to fend off interest from Real Madrid to keep Kylian Mbappe

PSG ‘want to keep Kylian Mbappe at ALL COSTS’ and stop him from joining Real Madrid this summer, just days after Carlo Ancelotti’s men pulled off a dramatic comeback to dump them out of the Champions League

  • Kylian Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer
  • His contract at PSG is set to expire in June, and he would become a free agent
  • However, PSG are reportedly very keen to extend his stay in the French capital
  • They will try to convince him to stay, despite their early Champions League exit
  • They were knocked out of the competition by Real Madrid on Wednesday

PSG will reportedly do everything they can to keep Kylian Mbappe at the club beyond this summer, despite the forward being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants attempted to sign Mbappe last summer, but PSG managed to fend off their interest.

However, Mbappe’s contract at the Parc des Princes expires in June, and he is yet to sign a new one.

Kylian Mbappe is out of contract at PSG in June, and could leave the club as a free agent

The Ligue 1 leaders have previously offered to make him the highest-paid player in world football, and it is understood that the club’s owners are desperate to keep him on their books, as reported by L’Equipe via Get French Football News.

It has been claimed that Mbappe may have considered committing his future to the club if they were battling for the biggest prizes, but it may be difficult for PSG to convince him after their latest Champions League exit, which came at the hands of Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side held a 2-0 aggregate lead with half an hour left of their two-legged tie, but they somehow conspired to throw the match away as Karim Benzema netted a hat-trick to dump them out of the competition.

This was the third time in the last six seasons that PSG have let an aggregate advantage of at least two goals slip, having done the same against Barcelona in 2017 and Manchester United in 2019.

Mbappe emerged from the damaging defeat with credit after scoring in both legs, but this loss may have made his mind up about where he will be playing his football next term.

It has been reported that tempers flared after the final whistle, with the PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi threatening a Real Madrid employee before trying to remonstrate with the referee about his performance at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Losing Mbappe could create even more problems behind the scenes at the club who are still trying to break their Champions League duck.

PSG signed the likes of Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi last year, yet have moved no closer to winning European football’s ultimate prize.

They could now be set to suffer another setback if Mbappe does opt to move on at the end of the season.
