Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel’s half-time team talk to try and lift his team to a Champions League quarter-final win cost the club 30,000 euros (£27,000).

UEFA’s disciplinary panel imposed the fine on Friday and also warned Tuchel ‘for being responsible for the late kick off’ to restart Wednesday’s game.

The introduction of Kylian Mbappe proved crucial in the second-half.

His pace and quality finally undid the stubborn Atalanta rearguard to provide an astonishing finale to the first one-legged quarter-final in the re-shaped competition.

UEFA often fine clubs for being late from the dressing-room to start the second-half which can affect broadcasters’ schedules.

Critics often compare the size of those fines unfavourably with similar sums imposed on clubs in cases of racist behaviour by fans at stadiums.

Montenegro were fined £17,396 and ordered to play one match behind closed doors after fans racially abused England’s Raheem Sterling, Danny Rose and Callum Hudson-Odoi during a Euro 2020 qualifier last year.
