Psychologist says murdered Comanchero bikie boss Mick Hawi was ‘articulate and highly intelligent’

Slain former bikie boss Mahmoud ‘Mick’ Hawi was an ‘articulate, conceptual and highly intelligent’ man according to criminal psychologist Tim Watson-Munro.

Before being shot dead in February, Hawi was ‘charismatic and driven’ and proudly boasted about his role as the youngest bikie gang president in the world.

In Dr Watson-Munro’s book A Shrink In The Clink, the ex-bikie boss was described as having massive amounts of loyalty for his family – both blood relatives and members of his beloved Comanchero, The Daily Telegraph revealed.

‘It meant a lot to him. He was loved by his family and had worked hard both in its refrigeration business and in developing the membership and reach of his beloved club,’ Dr Watson-Munro wrote.

‘I found him to be articulate, conceptual and highly intelligent. He was extraordinarily devoted to his family, having married his sweetheart from high school days.’

The author detailed Hawi’s potential as a businessman had he not been enticed by the world of motorcycles and gang activity.

‘In another incarnation, Hawi, like so many others who have chosen the dark path, could have been highly successful in business. While he won’t be missed by all, his brutal, very public execution is a tragedy for those he leaves behind,’ he said.

Dr Watson-Munro, who has spoken with several underworld figures throughout his career, described a deep sense of misogyny throughout bikie culture.

This extended to forcing female members to work for brothels to contribute to club funds and being expected to ‘consent to any sexual advance and desire of one or many club members’.

The women, known either as ‘mamas’ or ‘old ladies’ and considered ‘playthings’, would ride at the back of bikie runs and were banned from bikie meetings.

‘Mamas’ were considered ‘communal sexual prey’ for the entire gang, while ‘old ladies’ were the sole possession of their ‘old man’ biker partners’.

Any who strayed from the rules could be subject to ‘sexual humiliation’ including  working in the club’s bars or being gang raped by every member of the club.

The psychologist also divulged disturbing details about common initiation practices, including being urinated on, defecated on, or being made to drink urine, beer or vomit.

Once accepted into a gang, Dr Watson-Munro said it was normal that a series of rites-of-passage followed in order for different coloured sets of wings to be earned.

Members were rewarded for crude acts like performing cunnilingus on a menstruating black woman, engaging in anilingus, and performing sexual acts on a sheep.

Such practices were what Dr Watson-Munro said pointed towards ‘high levels of sexual aberration and psychological disturbance’ among gang culture.

Hawi was gunned down in a dramatic execution while sitting in his car outside a Fitness First gym in Rockdale, in Sydney’s south, on February 15.
