An outraged customer left a scathing TripAdvisor review claiming pub staff used a megaphone to ‘abuse’ his bald friend.
The reviewer, named on the site as Mark J, left the criticism about the Man Bites Frog bar and restaurant in Chorlton, Manchester.
He claims a waitress ‘mocked’ one of his party for being bald, before the owner and other staff members laughed.
But the owner has hit back, claiming staff were enjoying a leaving party and the waitress was simply ‘flirting’ and had been left ‘mortified’ by her actions.

The boss said he would ‘put some procedures in place to stop the megaphone falling into the wrong hands at the wrong time’
The customer said he visited the venue last week to share a bottle of wine with two friends.
He said the atmosphere was ‘weird’ and as he uses a hearing aid, asked if the music could be turned down – but claimed staff refused.
He added: ‘we got up to leave at which point the waitress who we had previously asked to turn the music down produced a megaphone ( I kid you not) and started using it to shout at us to get out and decided to also mock one of us for being bald.
‘The owner and the other members of staff all laughed as this happened. I know this sounds bizarre but it really did happen.’
However the owner hit back at the review, saying his staff meant no harm.
David Cleall-Hill, who runs Man Bites Frog in Chorlton, wrote: ‘It was actually a little leaving do for one of our chefs last night.
‘We are very sad to lose him but we are intensely proud of the work we have all done together so I will make no apology for the unusually raucous vibe among the staff.
‘It’s a shame that your friend was upset about the ‘bald’ jibe. I’ve spoken to the megaphone wielder and she’s mortified that offence was caused.

‘She’s a lovely girl and was devastated that she might have hurt anyone’s feelings. We’re nice people here but this is not the kind of place where we tiptoe around customers.
‘Perhaps we can agree that maybe you’ve taken that a little bit seriously and that it sounds a lot worse on paper than it was in real life. Most people would have laughed it off I suspect.
‘She had said something about you guys being a handsome bunch earlier so I suspect that she was just being a little flirty!
‘Anyway, I’ve checked the CCTV and I’m not convinced that Larry David would consider your friend part of the bald community.
‘I feel a bit hurt that you’ve felt the need to go straight to the internet and that you’re ‘going to tell everyone’ you know not to come here.
‘Hopefully all these people have a bit of a sense of humour and they might see the funny side.
‘I don’t deny that sometimes the service can be a little ‘cheeky’ but I’d rather have my team here than a bunch of drabbos with no personality.
‘I don’t mind the world knowing that Man Bites Frog isn’t perfect. God knows I’m not and neither are the staff.
‘We do a really good job though and an incident like that is all part of the thing. We are sincerely sorry if your friend is sad now but we mean no harm and I will put some procedures in place to stop the megaphone falling into the wrong hands at the wrong time.
‘Sometimes the internet can sensationalise things and the wrong tone can come across but I will welcome you with open arms if you want to pop in and have a pint with me.’
