The lethal striker leapt to his feet and looked around as he jogged over to join his teammates in the celebrations.
After the game, BBC presenter Gary Lineker mocked the 31-year-old striker.
He said: ‘He goes down and desperately tries to get a penalty “ooh I’m in agony, I’m in agony, I’m in agony” and then the ball goes in and “I’m alright”. It’s amazing what a recovery.’

Alan Shearer was less then impressed saying he thought it was ‘pathetic’ and ’embarrassing’
He said: ‘I don’t even want to laugh at that, that’s pathetic you can see him have a look at the referee before he goes down.’
Lineker responded: ‘It’s pathetically amusing,’ before Shearer again added ‘it’s pathetic, it’s embarrassing.’
Richard continued to make light of the situation responding to Shearer: ‘I’ve seen you do that before.’
The former Newcastle and England striker amused by Richards’ quip replied: ‘Never’.
Italy doubled their lead later in the first-half through Lorenzo Insigne before Romelu Lukaku scored a penalty before half-time.
Roberto Mancini’s side held on for the victory and they will face Spain in the semi-finals of Euro 2020.
