A punk who stretched his earlobes so wide he could fit two sharpies through the massive 35 millimeter holes has had them sewn up so that he looks ‘professional’ in the workplace
Niall, 23, began stretching his ears as a teenager as a ‘middle finger to society’, but ended up wanting to ditch them when he embarked on a nursing career.
Appearing on last night’s Body Fixers, Niall admitted that he doesn’t want to ‘scare’ patients with his ears and alternative look.
He enlisted the help of Dr Tijion Esho, a cosmetic doctor, and hairdresser Daniel Granger, who helped tame his wild mohican style.
He went under the knife on camera while he was still conscious to get his earlobes stitched back together.
Niall was thrilled with his new look, saying he was ‘excited to have normal ears’.
Niall, 23, began stretching his earlobes as a teenager and now has 35mm holes
After years of stretching, Niall’s ears had become bizarrely flexible without a plug in, meaning he was able to fit two Sharpie pens into the holes.
He called his punk look a ‘middle finger to society’ but was ready to lose it for the sake of his fledgling career as a nurse.
Niall said: ‘I need to be seen as a nice friendly person. I can’t scare anyone away, that’s the last thing I wanna do. I’ve got be seen as approachable and professional -it’s the job first.
‘The trouble is my look is so extreme people find me totally unapproachable. Sometimes it’s intimidating and scary. As much as I love the punk look, I’ve grown out of it now and I need to be seen as more professional.
The holes were so big Niall could fit Sharpies in them, which he said was ‘unprofessional’
Niall was thrilled with his new look, saying he looked ‘hot’ and was ready to be a nurse
‘How can I help people when I just scare them?’
Niall admitted that his ears weren’t just affecting his career as they actually caused him physical pain, particularly in cold weather.
‘They need to go back to normal ear lobes. In the winter they’re horrible, they get cold and they shrink,’ he said.
‘Right now they’re a bit sore because they’re swollen round the edges. They’re like big floppy donuts I don’t want that anymore.’
Niall also described his mohican hairstyle as being like a ‘bird’s nest’ that takes him an hour and half a can of hairspray to complete, leaving him desperate for a different look.
The show filmed Niall’s surgery, where the doctor removed all the excess skin around the lobe
Danny and Dr Esho both tackled Niall’s problem areas, with the doctor telling Niall that the only way to repair his ears was through surgery.
Dr Esho took Niall to see cosmetic surgeon Mr Sultan Hassan who performed the procedure while Niall was still conscious.
The surgery involved removing excess skin that had grown around the holes in Niall’s earlobes, which was shown on camera.
After he recovered from the surgery Niall was taken to Danny’s salon, where the hairdresser trimmed his mane into a professional new look.
The Body Fixers team were shocked with Niall’s ears and didn’t want to touch them
As the team pulled a cloak away from the mirror, Neil gasped, revealing he was thrilled with his new image.
He said: ‘I really, really like it! I can’t get over my ears, I look hot. No more piercings! I’m happy with my ears now – I’m so excited to have normal ears.’
Dr Esho also explained that Niall’s ears would completely heal, saying: ‘The wound has healed really well and that’s gonna continue to be healing over time. The scars will actually be hard to see.’
Body Fixers continues next Thursday at 9pm on E4.
