The manager of the Rainbow Jungle Pet Superstore in Camberwell in the city’s east found the shop broken into late on Saturday night.

The four cavoodle puppies aged between seven weeks and nine weeks old had only been at the store for a week before they were taken.

Cavoodles are a cross breed between Cavalier King Charles spaniels and poodles.

Two male dogs had been on sale by the store for $3,000. The value of the other two missing dogs has not been revealed.

Victoria Police is now urging members of the public in the area around Toorak Road who may have seen anything to come forward.

People are also asked to report anything they hear about or if they see the missing dogs.

Footage from CCTV cameras is set to be reviewed by detectives on Monday, a spokesman for Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia.

Initial inquiries has detected a door at the back of the business had been forced open from an alley.

The spokesman said: ‘We are appealing to the person or people responsible for the theft to get the puppies to an animal shelter as they are quite young and need the right care and attention.’
