The Russian TV presenter who is running against Vladimir Putin for president has been invited to Donald Trump’s national prayer breakfast in Washington DC.
Ksenia Sobchak, 36, was asked to attend the annual breakfast on February 1, her press secretary told Russian news agency Interfax.
Sobchak is scheduled to visit the US for three days but has not yet confirmed her attendance at the breakfast given her ‘tight schedule’.
She is slated to give a series of speeches and host meetings during her US visit.
Several Russian parliamentarians, including Andrei Makarov, Anatoly Aksakov and Vyacheslav Nikonov are also set to attend Trump’s prayer breakfast.
Sobchak, who has been referred to as the ‘Russian Paris Hilton’, became known as a socialite and a fashion icon before she launched her TV career.
She is the daughter of Anatoly Sobchak who was the reformist St Petersburg mayor in the early 1990s.

Sobchak has been often critical of the Russian government and said the country has grown tired of its current political elite and needs a change.
She joined anti-Kremlin protests in Moscow in 2011-2012 but has largely avoided criticizing Putin, who once worked as her father’s deputy.
Sobchak told Dozhd TV that she had warned Putin that she planned to join the race while interviewing him recently for a documentary about her father.
‘I had an impression he didn’t like it,’ she said of Putin’s reaction.
