Qantas and Virgin passengers face huge delays as power surge at Brisbane Airport forces check-ins, security network and baggage system to shut down

Qantas and Virgin passengers are facing huge delays after a power surge at Brisbane Airport.

The airport’s systems were offline for almost three hours after the surge occurred at about 7.30am on Monday.

Passengers were forced to check in over the counter after the issue threw the baggage, check-in and security system into disarray.

Brisbane Airport spokeswoman Rachel Bronish told 4BC the surge happened at a peak travel time and delays are expected.

‘It’s quite a busy time for us, so unfortunately passengers will be experiencing some delays this morning as we work through manual processing for check-in,’ she said.

Flights within Queensland were put back by about 20 mins, while interstate services faced delays twice as long.
