The footage was captured via the policeman’s camera, which is required by all units ‘prior to and during the exercising of a police power under legislation’.

The officer initially asks the man he has pulled over if it he has any outstanding warrants. He was pulled over because police had been chasing his license plate.

The man is believed to be under the influence of drugs during the roadside stop.

He has his hands on the roof of his car, before quickly running off into a field of tall grass.

The policeman immediately sprints after him, before the man starts attacking.

‘Get down on the ground now mate,’ the officer yells in pursuit.
