Dimitrios Goutas and Perry Ng helped Cardiff City move to within three points of the play-offs on New Year’s Day after claiming a 2-1 victory against QPR at Loftus Road.
While the Bluebirds kicked off 2024 on the right foot, QPR have now gone six games in the Championship without a win and are rock bottom of the league’s form table.
They currently sit 19th in the league despite having claimed a 0-0 draw against high-fliers Ipswich last time out.
Both of Cardiff’s goals came from corners, with Goutas heading in an inswinger from Joe Ralls’ after 16 minutes.
Paul Smyth would pull a goal back for the home side at the start of the second half, volleying in a ball from substitute Rayan Kolli from close-range.
Yet it was Cardiff who would claim the spoils, with Ng scoring his fourth goal of the season with a header in the 74th minute and give Erol Bulut’s side the win.
